Chicken Biryani Millets
We’re yet to meet someone who doesn’t like biryani. Some of us just avoid it when we’re not consuming rice for various reasons respectively. But #AnnaMayaDelhi has found the solution to that – and dare we say that this healthy recipe might just be better than rice biryani!

01. Diced chicken – 500 gm               02. Barnyard millet – 300 gm
03. Whole garam masala – 10 gm    04. Ginger garlic paste – 5 gm          05. Sliced onion – 200 gm                 06. Salt – to taste                                07. Turmeric powder – 2 gm             08. Yellow chili powder – 3 gm        09. Kashmiri chili powder – 2 gm     10. Beaten curd – 150 ml
11. Chicken stock – 150 ml                  12. Desi ghee – 50 gm
13. Mint leaves – few sprigs               14. Coriander leaves – few sprigs
15. Saffron – few strands


01. Wash and soak millets for ten minutes.
02. Heat ghee in a pan, add whole garam masala, add sliced onion and sauté until light brown, keep half for garnish, add ginger and garlic paste in remaining onion, sauté.
03. Add chicken pieces and then add the powdered spices, yoghurt and stock and cook till well done.
04. Pour millets over the cooked chicken, sprinkle, fried onion, coriander, mint, saffron and little ghee on top and cook on dum (in a heavy bottom pan over an iron tawa to protect from direct heat cooking) until steam comes out.
05. Serve hot with chili and garlic raita
